In days of old, life lessons were taught through legends and lore. Stories and songs told of mighty powers of day and night and the dim dusk between them. Please join us as Runic Films endeavors to uphold these traditions of old by utilizing the tools of the new.

January 4, 2010
Project: Star Trek: Phase II

TrekMovie.com, the leading Star Trek news site, has awarded the Star Trek: Phase II episode "Blood and Fire: Part 2" the Best Fan Production of 2009! Congratulations to James Cawley and all entire Phase II staff.

Runic Films' Carlos Pedraza co-wrote the teleplay with noted science fiction author David Gerrold (“The Trouble with Tribbles”). Gerrold directed the episode with other Runic members David Berry, cinematographer, Joël Bellucci, visual effects supervisor, and Ben Alpi, second unit director. "Blood and Fire" is based on a script Gerrold wrote for Star Trek: The Next Generation but was never produced because producers deemed it too controversial. more

A great article by writer Eric Trautmann about all things fan film and beyond. Features Phase II with great interviews with Runic's Ben Alpi and PII Executive Producer James Cawley.

http://paralleluniverse.msn.com/features/movies/the-observatory

"I met Eric about fifteen years ago at our small town comic book shop," says Ben. "He was writing modules for the original Star Wars tabletop RPG from West End Games which totally blew my mind. To connect with him after all these years and compare notes again was a real treat."

Visit The Observatory on MSN for more of Eric's goodness (Zerks even gets a nod!) He let us know that he'll be posting an extended version of this article, which will include a Carlos Pedraza interview, on Eric-Trautmann.com. So stay tuned!
