Remembering Brett Jones
The Hashtag family has lost one of its own, award winning artist, Brett Jones.
After fighting a long, valiant battle with cancer, Brett travels to the stars far earlier than he should have. As an artist, we have lost a brilliant talent. As a charity fundraiser, we have lost a champion. And as a friend, we have all lost one of the greats.
Brett and I became fast friends over our effortless collaborations and I valued ever cuppa we shared. We shared a love of many things including Star Trek, Star Wars, Farscape, and more including when we recently connected over Tarzan. We looked forward to the next time we met and to the next chance to work together. I can only thank him for being my friend and for all he did for us as a concept artist, how he and Anne Lindup visited me in Los Angeles to watch the film, and how they invited us as guests to the Sci Fi Ball as the inaugural short film of the convention–the proceeds of which went to the Teenage Cancer Trust. We had an amazing time and met so many wonderful folks.
I’m sure that now he will get his fill of jam and pie–and tea just bashed around a bit. I just hope he’ll look down on us and protect all those he helped through the years with selflessness and care. And most certainly, please send dry humor. For me, I hope I can do you proud, my friend. Our thoughts are with Brett’s loved ones, wife Anne, and his many, many friends.
Brett Jones, 29/08/1969-16/07/2024.
